WAVERLY, Iowa (August 8, 2011) – Waverly Light and Power’s local emergency diesel generators passed a mandatory annual inspection on Tuesday, July 26 with high ratings.
The utility’s power provider, Municipal Energy Agency of Nebraska (MEAN), came on-site to observe as Waverly Light and Power’s personnel performed the annual Uniform Ratings Generation Equipment (URGE) test. The test takes place to ensure generators are being maintained regularly and can perform when needed.
“Continual updates in control technology and maintenance puts Waverly Light and Power in the top tier of MEAN utilities,” said Bob Meade, Utility Services Representative for MEAN. “Employees are committed to maintaining a service that provides customers with high reliability.”
Waverly Light and Power annually sells 15 megawatts of capacity from the local emergency
generators to MEAN, adding up to $270,000 annually for the local municipal utility.
