Waverly Light and Power wants to help our customers understand and interpret their utility bills. Our goal is to provide the information necessary so our customers can fully understand how their usage is being distributed. By better understanding rates and charges, customers can see first hand how their energy consumption affects their monthly costs. Below is a sample bill, which you can use as a reference to identify what each part of your bill represents.

Reading Your Monthly Bill

Energy Cost Adjustments
A monthly electric adjustment reflecting changes in the cost of generation and transmission costs that cannot be anticipated by Waverly Light and Power.  The energy cost adjustment varies each month.  It can be a charge or a credit to your bill.  You can influence this cost by lowering your overall energy usage.

Energy Charge
The amount of energy a customer consumes each month. Customers can influence this charge by reducing their overall energy consumption through energy efficiency.

Customer Charge
Helps Waverly Light and Power cover the cost of providing electrical service to you, from maintaining the line and transformers that power your home to meter reading and bill coordination. This charge is not influenced by energy usage.

Discounts
Waverly Light and Power will apply any applicable discounts each month. The customer’s bill will reflect the amount of the discount and the reduction it has on the overall bill.

Electric Use History
When customers buy electricity, they are charged by the kilowatt-hour (kWh).This section includes the current average usage and costs, and usage and costs from one year ago.

Paid at Bank
Customers who choose to use the automatic bill pay plan will see this statement on their bills.

Message Center
Important messages from the City of Waverly and Waverly Light and Power, including changes in refuse schedules, office closings, etc.

Disconnect Notice
Pay the amount by the date indicated to avoid additional fees and disconnect.

Budget Billing
When customers choose to participate in a “Budget Billing” plan,the customer pays a level amount each month. If at the end of the budget year the amount paid under a budget-billing plan is more than actual charges, then the customer gets a credit. If the customer pays less than actual charges, the customer must make up the difference.

Amount Due and Due Date
Total amount due includes any balances not paid on previous bills.
