Waverly Light and Power wants to make easy for you to be able to read your meter and allow you to determine how much electricity you are using.
Reading Your Meter
Electrical meters may have 4 to 5 dials to read excluding the small test dials, which you do not have to worry about. To begin reading look at the dial on the left and move to the right. All the hands move in numerical order, for example from 1 to 2 to 3, etc. If the pointer on the dial is between number, always record the lower number. In the cases when the pointer is directly on a number, check the dial to the right. If the number is between 0 and 1, then record the higher number.
*NOTE: some hands move clock-wise and other move counter-clockwise
Determining Units Used
To calculate how much electricity you are using each month simply:
1. Read the meter on the same day each month
2. Subtract last month’s reading from this month’s reading. The number you get is the usage for that meter in KWH (1,000 watt hours) for electricity.
