Waverly Light and Power utilizes an "inverted" rate to encourage energy efficiency for our residential customers during the four summer months, when WLP experiences the highest demand for electricity.
The inverted rate system is in place to reduce green house gas emission, move customers closer to cost of service, give them more control over their own bills as well as promote energy efficiency. The summer rates have a variable rate based on customer usage, therefore rewarding customers who use less energy with a lower rate. The inverted rate is applied June through September only. The winter rates will remain at a flat rate for all kilowatt hours consumed.
